The very reason I avoided sleep training was because I wanted to be the kind of parent every child deserves. Patient. Calm. Responsive. Creative. Playful. Fully present. But instead... The constant exhaustion turned me into someone I didn't recognize. I became short-tempered. Emotionally overwhelmed. Snappy over the smallest things. Even now, I get goosebumps saying this, because I feel it deep in my heart. The very thing I was trying to avoid... ended up making me the kind of parent I never wanted to be. If I had simply gotten the sleep I needed, I could have shown up as the parent I always hoped to be. But I didn't realize that until everything changed. Not because I chose to. Because I had a car accident with my 10-month-old baby in the car.
