Wanting to make the most of the little time he had left, John called his mother. He told her how much he loved her and thanked her for everything she had done for him throughout his life. They laughed, cried, and shared memories they had never spoken about before. After hanging up, John reached out to old friends he had lost contact with over the years. To his surprise, they were happy to hear from him. Together, they remembered old adventures and moments that had once seemed insignificant but now felt priceless. John also thought about the people he had argued with. He realized that holding onto anger no longer mattered. He visited someone he had not spoken to in years because of a disagreement and sincerely apologized. The other person forgave him, and both felt a huge weight lifted from their shoulders. For the first time in a long while, John felt at peace.
