Climate change is a reality that is affecting the entire world today. And Pakistan is among the countries that are experiencing its impacts most severely. From 2010 until now, repeated floods have not only destroyed standing crops, but have also severely affected thousands of homes and lives. Especially the low-lying areas along riverbanks face this natural disaster every year. But… after every hardship, a new hope always emerges. To reduce environmental risks and raise awareness, Paiman Alumni Trust launched a plantation drive in District Chaarsadda. Under the guidance of the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Chaarsadda, local communities were not only provided with plants, but were also educated about their importance and proper care. During the campaign, different types of healthy fruit-bearing, flowering, and shade-giving plants were carefully sourced. These plants were safely transported to different areas to ensure that each one reached its new location in the best condition. Local residents selected suitable locations based on the nature of the land— so that the plants could grow properly. Then, with love, effort, and hope, these plants were planted into the soil— as if laying the foundation for the future. Each plant was watered and proper arrangements were made for its protection, so it could grow into a strong tree. Particularly along riverbanks, where floods pose a yearly threat, these plants were planted as a natural barrier. This campaign is not just the effort of one organization… but a shared responsibility embraced by the entire community. Elders, youth, and children from the village all actively participated in this initiative. Some gave their time, some contributed their effort… and others offered hope for future generations. These small plants… will grow into large trees tomorrow, strengthening the land and providing a safe, green environment for generations to come.
